Oxfam partners with Open to create ‘New Model’ of Supporter Engagement
Open will work with Oxfam to grow its supporter base and deliver its mission of a radically better world!
Following a competitive pitch involving both sector specialists and commercial agencies, Oxfam has appointed Open to help grow and transform its supporter engagement programme.
During the pitch Open presented a vision of a ‘new model’ of fundraising that moves past humanitarian cliches to offer a more equal, just and forward-thinking way for people in the UK to play their part in overcoming inequality.
The long-term partnership will see Open work with the Oxfam team across its supporter engagement programme to deliver existing fundraising activity while developing new approaches that bring to life Oxfam’s feminist, anti-racist and decolonising approach – both for existing supporters and a new generation of campaigners & donors.
“We were impressed by Open's grasp of this goal, the creative solutions they presented and by their obvious desire to be part of that change.”
James Briggs, Co-Founder of Open, said:
"This is a very special project for us and one that we’re tremendously excited about. The way the sector represents its partners and the people it exists to serve has improved over recent years. But Oxfam is determined to go further. This isn’t about telling a familiar ‘overseas development’ story in a different, more sensitive way. This is about being radically different and shifting power in both the organisation’s work and its communications."
Jan Oldfield, Chief Supporter Officer at Oxfam, said:
"Oxfam’s strategy is to work in partnership with communities and activists who are driving change, calling out injustice and exposing the root causes of poverty. To be successful, we need to connect and inspire millions of people – not only to secure the funding we need but also to take action and be part of the wider mission. We were impressed by Open's grasp of this goal, the creative solutions they presented and by their obvious desire to be part of that change.
Open is so proud and hugely excited to work with Oxfam!
