Behind the Headline

I’ve been lucky enough to be part of Shelter’s Christmas campaign this year. It’s one of the most moving things I’ve ever worked on.

 

It focuses on the fact that 75,000 children in Britain will wake up homeless on Christmas morning – not on the streets, but in temporary accommodation that is destroying their health and futures.

 

The campaign is absolutely storming along although, sadly, it now needs rewriting. Because the latest stats show that the figure has increased to an even more unbelievable 82,000.

 

The numbers are huge. But it’s the stories of the children involved that really make this horrible situation real. They’re losing their homes, school friends and even their toys.

 

Shelter have just launched a video that is really worth a watch. I’m sure you’ll be moved whilst drinking mulled wine and wrapping those Christmas presents.
